OSAKA -- Fifty-one workers and related traders for major machinery maker Kubota Corp. have died over the past 10 years from mesothelioma and other forms of cancer related to the use of asbestos, it has been learned.

Japanese industrial equipment maker Kubota Corp. said Wednesday that 79 employees, mostly plant workers, died over a decades-long period of a type of cancer likely caused by the company's production of asbestos products.
